Brief

We were invited to partner with Kendal Golf Club in Cumbria to perform an energy saving project involving the specification and installation of solutions that would reduce their energy spend by 15% and deliver a ROI within two years.

Process

We carried out an initial survey and identified a number of areas where energy consumption could be reduced, while improving factors affecting the customer experience, such as lighting levels and climate conditions.

Our proposal helped the client to obtain funding from the Carbon Trust, which in turn enabled us to proceed with the following improvements: –

  • Replacement of inefficient lighting with the latest design and technologies
  • Presence and light level controls
  • Energy efficient heating controls

Outcome

The energy saving project was designed to reduce the impact of Climate Control Act legislation on the club and all parts were approved for an ECA tax rebate, providing additional savings. The improvements we carried out have also reduced ongoing maintenance costs. Since completion of the installation, we have measured a 21% reduction in electricity and 41% in gas, yielding a ROI in approximately 18 months.
