In order to prepare for future legislation changes and to improve its customer offer, Co-op Funeral Care, one of the largest suppliers of funeral care services in the UK, set out to upgrade the cold storage facilities at 400 of its branches.
We were invited to carry out a preliminary proposal for one branch, which became a live project. We specified and installed a refrigeration plant, which was a standard split condensing unit and evaporator solution. We explored the market to ensure that we could get the most environmentally friendly solution available, whilst still maintaining a commercially acceptable offer. This meant the refrigerants of choice were new modern HFO blends and hydrocarbons, keeping emissions low and in line with the client’s Science Based Climate Targets.
Our solution was rolled out to over 200 other sites, of which we were awarded 50 on which to carry out install and 16 to be main contractor.
