McColl’s is a leading neighbourhood retailer with a network of 1265 convenience stores and newsagents across England, Scotland and Wales. Their aim is to provide a great range of quality everyday products and services, close to where people live, and available when they need them.
Clearworld supported McColls with a campaign to drive down Carbon Dioxide reductions primarily to ensure stores are operating to maximum efficiency in all areas.
The challenge was to create solutions that can be implemented quickly and cost effectively to ensure best possible outcome for client financial, CSR and most importantly CO2 targets.
Surveys were conducted for several sites to meticulously recognise how the operations were performing and where additional energy performance could be delivered, culminating with improvements in the following areas:-
– Air Conditioning
Initially based on a small trial, the very encouraging results achieved energy savings of more than 25% which contributed to circa. 12 tonnes of CO2 being saved.
